Nigerian guy making money out of children

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

This is a rather sick story, I ran into:

A 26-year-old young man, Ehigie Omenai who kidnapped two children including his eight-year-old niece, Blessing Omenai, for use in a money-making ritual is now a contrite person. “I feel very sad and ashamed of myself, I pray that God will help me get over this problem so that I will go and win souls for Christ…” Ehigie who claimed to have obtained a diploma in Civil Engineering from the Ambrose Alli Univerisity, Ekpoma, said he had to embark on the failed project since he could not find any means of livelihood, following his inability to travel to Spain through Morroco because he had no money to sponsor the trip.

Palpable fear gripped residents of Irrua in Esan Central Local Government Council of Edo State penultimate Friday when the incident occurred as parents went in search of their children, sensing that ritualists may have invaded the community.

From what Saturday Vanguard gathered, Ehigie had never agreed with Blessing’s mother since his elder brother got the woman pregnant. It was said that Ehigie sent the brother’s wife packing after the elder brother brought her into the house with the reason that it was not his brother that impregnated the poor woman. (more…)

Short or long travel

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

Do you like your travel long or short , I personally prefer them to be short, to me short is less than 15 days beyond that I consider it a long travel to me the main difference between long and short travel is the intensity.
I like one week trip with everyday busy doing stuffs and visiting places, I noticed that on a two week trip, I will have many slow days with little to do, those days are nice, they allow the body to rest, however, I don’t want my body to rest.

Longer than two weeks isn’t really good for me unless it is in Spain but usually if I go more than two weeks at a places, I start to work again, I m so used to work.
They are folks they call themselves travellers and they are the people that travel more than 3 months in a row, they call the people that travel less than 3 months ‘tourists’, so I m a tourist based on that standard;) (more…)

The ONG NGO people

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

I met a few ONG (or NGO) people, one is a girl who is busy with an organization that sponsor nearly 300 children from Rwanda, the other person is also a girl busy with an organization that also sponsor children but from Madagascar this time, …and by now you have guess that the third person has the same activity. I met all of them last week at different place, I found strange that I met ONG people, these women seem to have a big heart, check out the website http://www.coeuretconscience.org/

It contrasts with the profiteer image I have from some others ONG people; those guys that go in Africa or South Asia to just have fun drive a big SUV and have easy girls.
There is an ugly side to the ONG world that is often hided to the public, heard of the ‘sex for foods’ deal ? that some of ONG guys do.
I have personally nothing against ONG; I personally proudly worked for the red cross in 1999 in a refugee camp and I’m still a donator for the red cross.
I think there are three types of ONG people I met : (more…)
