The many mistakes of a traveler

The classic error I made is of course to miss a flight however strangely it didn’t had that much consequence.
During these last six years of travel, I missed the plane two time, one time because I missed the plane I had to buy a ticket for a near by city of my destination I paid an extra 96 euro (not a lot money) and I made my trip it allowed me to visit a city I didn’t know about.
The second time I missed the plane I was reschedule for the next flight one day later at no additional charge (sometime it is cool to travel with big company that don’t charge again when you miss a flight), I enjoyed that additional day in my destination city.

Another mistake I made was to not have money in my currency when I came back to buy a bus or train ticket from the airport to home. In that case I can pay with a credit card, but I think it is stupid to buy a 2,80 euro with Visa or Mastercard card. One mistake I do less is to forget my stuffs at the hotel and I’m happy I lose less stuffs but over the years I lost trouser, underwear, map and of course like many people I forgot my toothpaste, I also forgot a CD player and a CD in a Barcelona, I called the hotel when I was back home and they sent me through express delivery.

One of the worse mistake I made was in Romania, I didn’t know their weird monetary system , they had 2 currencies there, and one taxi driver confused me so much with that he was able to rip me off 100 euro.
Another mistake I did in Romania was prior to go there I booked for a hotel room however when I arrived in Bucharest I find out that the hotel doesn’t exist nor the street the hotel was supposed to be in. Yep, they are country like this. I booked the hotel room on the well respect www.bookings.net

Minor mistake, one time I fell asleep in a train in Spain, I arrived at the train station but I let my 150 euro Ray Ban sunglass in the train . Bye ! Bye ! my sunglass.

Going in a big city without a map is often problematic however this problem can be easily solved, map are easy to find. Some cities like Barcelona can be visited without a map however it is not the case for all big city.

I’m making less and less mistake the more I travel, I m getting used to make nearly perfect planning. So what were your travel mistakes ?
