Samadhi Floatation Tank

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Berlin Wall
On this picture I’m at front of the remaining of the Berlin’s wall. The building in the background is a remaining of Gestapo-zentrale (Gestapo headquarter) the main Gestapo building itself was destroyed apparently during WW2

When I was in Berlin, I went to Float-Berlin.de they offer floatation tank. Floatation tank are supposed to offer you sensory deprivation while you float on water in a capsule or tank (water is mixed with a certain type of salt to make you float).
It offers great and quick deep relaxation. It also helps your brain to produce theta brainwaves while awake.
My floatation tank was the Samadhi tank that you can see in this video. I made the video right before going in the tank.
The nice music you can hear was the music I heard while I was relaxing in the tank going through a series of emotional release and meditations.

This particular tank had blinking stars in the dark. So it was even a more beautiful experience. It was like looking at stars in the sky during the night.

In the June 2010 issue of Neuroscience Letters, an international science journal, research teams from South Korea reported that the Brain Wave Vibration meditation method seems to train the sympathetic nervous system to regulate stress and somatize stress. Sixty-seven participants in a meditation group regularly practicing the mind-body training called “Brain-Wave Vibration” have responded with more positivity under stressful circumstances. Their stress hormone levels showed better stress management skills and a faster capacity to become positive under the same stressful situations.

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 24, 2010 — In the June 2010 issue of Neuroscience Letters, an international science journal, research teams from South Korea reported that the Brain Wave Vibration meditation method seems to train the sympathetic nervous system to regulate stress and somatize stress.

This study is a result of two-year collaboration between prominent research institutes in South Korea, Seoul National University Hospital, Seoul National University College of Medicine and Korean Institute of Brain Science, funded by the cognitive neuroscience program of the Korean Ministry of Science and Technology.

The study was designed to assess the association between stress, positive affect and catecholamine levels in meditation and control groups. The meditation group consisted of 67 subjects who regularly engaged in “Brain-Wave Vibration” mind-body training and the control group consisted of 57 healthy subjects.

The control group consisted of 57 healthy subjects, ages 19 to 37 years. The meditation group consisted of 67subjects, aged 18 to 36 years, who practiced meditation regularly. Subjects in the meditation group had been practicing meditation for a mean of 43 months.

Plasma catecholamine (norepinephrine (NE), epinephrine (E), and dopamine (DA)) levels were measured, and a modified form of the Stress Response Inventory (SRI-MF) and the Positive Affect and Negative Affect Scale (PANAS) were administered. Read More→

Stuffs from the brainwave chick

Posted by: | Comments (1)

They have some curious stuffs over there on the brain chick website. You will find some mp3s but among other thing a strange video that seems to remind me the last segment of “2001, A Space Odessey”
The images are strange and the music is special according to the website:

The brain wave music composition was designed with IBVA, an Interactive Visual Analyzer Brainwave interface to the computer, which enables neural audio imaging, terminology coined to describe a process that uses a brain wave interface to the computer to interact with multimedia events.

streaming-consciousness
That piece is called “Streaming consciousness”, you can get it from this page http://brainwavechick.com/pages/streaming.html
I’m not sure why the piece is called that way, I remember I had a few OOBE where I heard “consciousness music” and you can be sure it cannot be reproduced with any instruments we have.
Also on the same page, you can download a MP3, according to the website :

“The music was composed with the intent of creating audio that would move the individual in and out of a variety of of mental states, switching back and forth between beta, alpha, theta and delta frequenceis. the composition’s conclusion is intended to bring the listener to a balanced state of mind, characterized by a deep level of physical relaxation and focused mental activity. This balance reflects a harmonius relationship between yin and yang.”

I listened to the mp3 it reminded me some of the industrial music I heard in the early 90′s, it is very curious.

brainbaths_iphoneAnother new Iphone/Ipod brainwave entrainment application, this one is called Brainbaths (40 Mb, $0,99 or €0,79 , Link to AppStore)
They use pseudo 3D surround to create a relaxing soundscape, they also mix that with binaural beats.
I haven’t tested it myself, I do not have access to the Appstore because Apple registration is retarded it is not because I live in Spain that I have a Spain issued credit card….anyway, I read many positive reviews about the product all over the place, the reviews aren’t from experienced brainwave entrainment users but for such a low amount of money there is little risk involved.
BrainBaths was developed by Dubeytunes-Studios, an award winning immersive-media production company. The demo reel on Dubeytunes website is great by the way, they know about sound !

The so-called sonic immersion offered are Brainbath, Breezy Chimes, Bubblebath, By the Road, Campfire by Creek, Crickets, Dock of the Bay, Fireworks, Green Pastures, Jungle, Laughter, Lift Off, Mountain Brook, Mountain River, Mountain Stream, Rain in Meadow, Rain in Rainforest, Rolling Thunder, Summer Meadow, Swamp, Walk in the Park, Waterfall, Waves and Seagulls, Waves, Wetland Loons, Whale Calls, and Your Ovation .

Once you have made your choice, you can choose brainwave frequencies to make the choice easy the selections are called Brain Latte, Clear Insights, Creativity, Deep Meditation, Deeper Meditation, Headache Soother, Peaceful Sleep, Relaxation, and Superlearning .
