Highest excitement vs. perfectionism

By

When you want to follow your passion, your highest excitement , what can hold you back ? One thing that can personally hold me back is perfectionism. My highest excitement at this time would be to write an ebook and an online ecourse about the topics of my interest (LOA, meditation, relaxation, ESP ).

But if I follow the mantra of perfectionism and start doing this thing, when I think that I will be perfect for it then I will wait very long time. Perfectionism is telling me that may be I should wait some more time until my English improve . English is a  second language for me.
Perfectionism is also telling me that I should wait some more time until, I’m a Uber-master at what I do. The perfectionism mentality hold people back. If I start something and if there is obstacles then the solution will manifest itself in most of the cases. As I will be using my creative mind to get across the hurdles. But if I do nothing, I risk to fantasize about an unlimited number of limitation (paralysis by analysis)
I asked to myself “If I had created a successful online e-course and if I had a few successful e-books online, how I would have done it ?”

  • I would have join a online marketing training to learn the in and out of marketing web sites and information products (I took that step yesterday and registered to the BlogProfit Training)
  • I would have mind mapped the content of the ebook and the e-course (I took that step last week)
  • I would have registered with WhiteSmoke the English grammar correction software
  • I would be writing a bit of content for it everyday (I started writing the e-course 4 days ago)

So I’m doing it or more precisely I’m living it, there is no goal to achieve out there. Be the thing you want to be and you will see your creative mind will guide you. If I lack expertise in an area, I will ask someone skilled in that area to help me. It is very simple, end of the story. Perfectionism needs not to hold me back.

If you find yourself affirming “I’m not ready !” you had better ask yourself , how can you start what you want to create now without being ready , because taking action is precisely what will cause you to be ready .

If you see yourself as someone who has to achieve something out there then you will need to be ready, this posture might block your creativity and it might also lower your motivation.
On the other hand, if you see yourself as what you want to be , then your creative mind will work for you, instead of searching a way to be ready, you will directly be in a state of doing the thing and learning to do it better in the process, just like I’m doing with my ebooks and e-course project.
From that vantage point of view, I’m not someone trying to have some ebooks and e-course out. I’m someone doing these things and learning to do them better.

Ask yourself how perfectionism might in some ways holding you back ?
