Quantum Wellness

Posted by: | Comments (2)

quantum-wellnessQuantum Wellness
is a book by best selling author Kathy Freston. There is quantum in the title but it has nothing to do with quantum physic, according to the Kathy Freston Quantum Wellness is about tiny little things that people invest their energy every day and making changes in those areas for a better life. Her book discusses 8 pillars to achieve a healthy lifestyle.
Which are :
1. Meditation
2. Conscious eating
3. Exercise
4. Visualization
5. Spiritual Practice
6. Self-work
7. Service
8. Fun Activities

The author seems to have been influenced by the yoga philosophy because she does talk a lot about yoga techniques in her book such as pranayama and because her 8 pillars looks like the 8 pillars of Raja Yoga

1. Yamas – The Yamas or restraints (Don’ts)
2. Niyamas – The Niyamas or observances (Do’s)
3. Asanas – Postures
4. Pranayama – regulation or control of the breath.
5. Pratyahara – withdrawal of the senses in order to still the mind.
6. Dharana – concentration.
7. Dhyana – meditation
8. Samadhi – the superconscious state

Notice the similarities between the two system, Kathy pillar of spiritual practice are like “Niyamas practices of Swadhyaya or study of the sacred texts and Ishwara Pranidhana which is constantly living with an awareness of the divine Presence (surrender to God’s Will)”

Kathy Freston program is just a westernised version of Raja Yoga ? Often, in the Western world when we say yoga we only refer to asanas (the postures) and we exclude the rest in this book she ties all together many times in the book she encourages her readers to take up yoga (asanas) and tai chi (energy work).
If you combine the teaching of that book and the asanas, you have the whole Raja Yoga in a Western form.(Can we live without fun activities over here ?)

The book contains a 21 days cleanse plan to get started. Superstar Oprah Winfrey did the plan, you can read it on her blog. Like many yogis, Kathy Freston recommends to not eat meats, a vegan diet is part of the program. The basis of yogic diet is Sattva (purity) , according to the Bhagavad Gota, Sattvic foods increase life, purity and joy.
The Kathy Freston’s program doesn’t seem to be for everyone as this blog post suggests at dooce.com, the blogger there started the program to later give up. I think that becoming a vegan by force is very difficult, it should be gradual because the body has its habits for someone like me it can be easier I can live without chocolate, cheese, milks, eggs and I do not like coffee, so there isn’t much sacrifice involved from my standpoint but for a vast majority of people it will be a lot easier to implement a vegan diet in a gradual manner.
Below is a video of Kathy Freston explaining how she puts this book together.

How to start a remarkable day

Posted by: | Comments (2)

I saw an interesting post at BlogMotivation called 6 easy tips to start your day properly.
The post there has interesting ideas to start a day such as “eat that big frog first”, which is something good to do (Have you read my review of the book “Eat That Frog” by Brian Tracy)
I decided to approach this topic from my angle and I also came up with some suggestions to create a remarkable day.
The plan is to avoid keeping the status quo and running backward, the suggestions are here for moving forward.

Two interesting things to experiment with when you open your eyes.

Listen to affirmations or subliminal tapes
Or
Write , paint, craft , design any creative impulse you’ve got on your mind

Listen to affirmations or subliminal tapes. Done early the use of affirmations tapes work better you are still in your best suggestible state and secondly if it the first thing you do in the morning you will probably not think about it later in the day thus allowing the birth on new beliefs without interfering. What block new beliefs to be created are the doubts and all the questioning people put on them, but, if you do that first in the morning, you will probably not return to it during the day which is perfect. If you listen to a tape allow a month and preferably two months to see if it worked. The man at SuccessAndMiracles.com makes great affirmations tapes. He also made a free video you can watch on his web page where he explains how affirmations work. Read More→

A few years ago one of my American friend who is a small business owner advised me to craft a mission statement for my websites activities or any other business I may be interested to develop. It was in 2003 since I haven’t found a mission statement until very recently because I understood why, it was difficult to come up with one, it was the concept of mission statement, it is very American and anchored in the culture of the United States.

According to e-Business Plan tutorial a mission statement is a declaration of what a business aspires to be. The statement is the business’ reason for being, a proclamation of why it exists, a clarification of who it serves, and an expression of what it hopes to achieve in the future. A carefully crafted mission statement accurately describes the business and inspires the people who contribute to its success.
This I understand and I agree with. Let see some mission statements.

Google’s mission statement is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.

Nike’s mission statement is To bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete in the world . If you have a body, you are an athlete.

Boeing : Become the dominant player in commercial aircraft and bring the world into the jet age.

Wal-Mart:Become a $125 billion company by the year 2000

The Nike’s mission statement seems OK but I can smell a bit of the “I come, I see, I conquer” mentality in all the others.

Japanese company Sony didn’t have a mission statement until recently, they had what they call the SONY’S SPIRIT, I guess it was more inline with their culture.
Sony spirit are four words that further heighten Sony’s greatest asset, the Sony brand name.
· Unique- Offer uniqueness by continuously creating new things and always striving to create expectation.
· Quality- Make product quality the major premise in the pursuit of that uniqueness.
· Speed- Ensure that decisions are made and actions taken quickly in spite of the large size of the company.
· Cost- Offer cost competitiveness while retaining excellence.

Many Japanese companies are known to not have a mission statement but rather a vision or role.
Nintendo role: To make many people happy and create a brighter society through entertainment that it offers.

I prefer the term “role” than “mission statement”. Mission statement is too warlike for me. Rambo 2: The Mission , Mission:Impossible 3, ….I risk to craft something like the others did, I found something that fit my beliefs instead of having a mission statement, I have a remarkable contribution. Crafting a remarkable contribution motivates me more than a mission statement. Assuming that a mission statement is something to do in relation to others people then I prefer a remarkable contribution.

My remarkable contribution in my work life is something like “To inspire people to use potential they have but don’t use”. I do not really help people, what I do is I experiment with stuffs people usually don’t do then I share my findings it might inspire some people to do what I have done. This has been my pattern for very long time, I do trail blaze. In a company I worked a few years ago they only worked with Windows-system I brought them Linux, I had to teach them how to use it and explain how to develop on it, etc… I remember my work mate Ivan, he was a Windows NT fan but when I taught him how to use Linux Debian he gaves up on NT, he was happier on Linux and later started a hosting company based on Debian Linux servers.

Trail blazing , inspiring is also what I have done before that with my magazine I did when I was a teenager and the school journal I did when I was in primary school, the people in the primary school were so inspired that when I left the school they continued my journal. (Is blogging like running a magazine ? looks like there is a of writing in my life)

Now, if you do not know about the sending out love , Open Focus, Meditation Mastery you might discover all of that in here and just do that. I’m sure 100 % you wont find many places that seriously explore the aforementioned topics. So I feel fine with that remarkable contribution, I can certainly improve the wording of it but you got the picture. If you don’t like mission statement, vision , role and remarkable contribution find something that will give a focus to your “work life”.
I returned to software programming (yap, more writing), in a couple of months I will launch a new online service in line with my remarkable contribution.
I’m also working on many other projects. I found a focus to my ”work life”.

Introduction to Theta Realms

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Theta Realms is a website with nice fancy images. They are making great tunes with monaural and binaural beats at affordable prices around $14.95 the mp3 download , each download are about 60 minutes length.

According to their website:

Theta Realms is dedicated in creating wonderful brainwave sound journeys to be enjoyed but also serve as a powerful tool to allow you to tune your brainwaves to a specific brainwave state. It can take years for a person to learn to generate specific brainwaves. Not anymore, now anyone can start to learn to produce these often neglected altered states of mind. Theta Realms soundtracks use a neurological process called “brainwave entrainment” to naturally stimulate your desired state. Just by learning to produce these altered brainwaves states one can expect a deepening of ones state of mind.

Theta Realms is about the personal experience of the theta mind state with the use of musical journeys powered by effective brainwave stimulation.
