Copyright a block to creativity ?

I do not understand the mentality of people living on intellectual properties most of them are “remixer” yet they claim to be original creator when they really aren’t.
Consider the Aladdin character it wasn’t created by Disney , they also used the face of actor Tom Cruise for their Aladdin character so what is this ? It is a remix, pure and simple. I remember I was contacted a few months ago by a very upset woman because I quoted one of her article about EFT View definition in a new window. She chanted the copyright law mantra. What this woman do not understand is that she is also a remixer. She took a speech by Gandhi remixed it with EFT to create a self-help EFT script this is a brilliant idea but it relies on other people ideas. That’s the problem with the mentality of people living on intellectual properties, they allow themselves to be remixer but they are upset when their work is in turn added to a new remix.
May be, because they realize that they aren’t original creator but merely remixer ?
A lawyer pointed out that artist rely on an abundant public domain, Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is one of the most remixed work , to name a few remixes of that work – West Side Story, Romeo+Juliet , Save the last dance,…..
The list is long, you think Marylin Manson song’s Tainted love is a song from him. No, It is not, he is a remixer just like the other Brittany Spears. You see it takes time to come up with something completely new. If we want or weekly dose of new content we have to largely rely on remixed creations.
The Mickey Mouse character was supposed to enter public domain in 2003 but they find a way to extend the copyright for another 20 years. According to some people it is anti-constitutional , but do you still have a constitution over there ?
The video below addresses the issue of copyright in our present digital age.
