The Love Study
ByThe Love Study was conducted by Marilyn Schlitz, Jerome Stone, Dean Radin and Ellen Levine the study was at first orchestrated by Elizabeth Targ but she died in 2002 before the study was completed Schiltz and the others carried on the study.
Many studies influenced the design of the Love Study for example the fact that remote staring was successfully studied in lab, the discovery that under many types of circumstances the electrical signalling in the brains of people get synchronized, the observation that during remote influence the brain waves of the receiver appear to be entrained (in synchrony) with the brain waves of the sender.
They also took into account the amazing discovery of Dr Rollin McCraty (Executive Vice President and Director of Research at the Institute of HeartMath) that mentally focusing on the heart cause brain-wave entrainment between two people.
“When two people touched while focusing loving thoughts on their hearts , the more ‘coherent’ heart rhythms of the two began to entrain the brain of the other”
The Love Study was about remote healing , 31 couples volunteered with one partner in the couple suffering from cancer of any variety, healthy couples were also recruited to act as controls.
Jerome Stone a practising Buddhist wrote the training manual for the couples with many ideas of Tonglen Buddist (giving and receiving) to generate compassion. The manual included instruction to teach the sender how to focus and concentrate, create a high degree of sustained attention.
The volunteers were also instructed how to get new beliefs to have confidence in that protocol. The training was done within a single day with homework.
Couples were divided into three categories. The first group was the trained one with the Stone’s training manual, the second group (the wait group) was to carry out test first and then have the training, the last group, the control group was to have no training at all but simply go through the test.
The Love Study showed with no ambiguity that “one person’s thought does have an impact on another person’s body.”
