Accepting Responsibility

I briefly scanned the last post by Steve Pavlina called ‘A Better Life’, he made some good points about the present being our point of power, this is something I often forget for myself. I was facing such dilemma I have a website that I try to improve the revenue and I had to buy two programs to make the improvement one of the program isn’t really necessary but it can make the site so much better and valuable, I had the following train of thoughts :

  • I don’t afford such a software (Experiencing subjective financial limitation in the present)
  • May be my idea will not work out (Projecting subjective financial limitation in the future)
  • May be, it is best I wait one or two months so I will have more money to invest (Accepting subjective financial limitation in the present which build foundation to keep it in the future)

I recognized that self-defeating pattern, I changed by accepting to experience that website as successful in the now, it was easy because that site has rapid growth in traffic each week, I bought the software and It was so great and made that site more efficient that I barely remember that I had the thought that it was a bad idea.

It is important to change limiting beliefs rather than accepting them however to do that train of thoughts must be scrutinized once a limiting belief is recognized a focus on a positive belief must be made, this focus must be done repeatedly over a period of time something like a couple of minutes everyday during a month. Usually to adopt a new belief it must be turned into an emotion , the emotion will affect the brain and re-map your neural network, in fact, visualising yourself in advantageous condition isn’t enough you must also feel the emotions associated to that condition. The feelings, the emotions will create the new belief.

The new belief will be used then to filter experiences and to make your daily experience of life fit that belief. If you feel ugly then that belief will make you ignore the compliments your receive from people who find you beautiful, you will also more likely be attracted by people that reinforce that belief .

Now, I’m not saying that this easy to do in this society we have been trained to play the victim and to struggle. Victimizations and struggling are ideas that are reinforced each day by mass media and end up being a mass meditation.

Accepting responsibility for your life is a first step to attracting better conditions, now, that I think about it I rarely met people who accept responsibility it is always someone else fault.

Now, why we don’t accept responsibility may be we fear punishment or something along this line or may be we don’t want to ‘feel less’ as far as I’m concerned I accept responsibility for everything I create , crap or good, but I think that when I refused responsibility in the past it allowed me to still feel worthy or something like this.

I think by accepting responsibility for our results, our life, we force ourselves to make conscious choice because no matter what happen to me I’m the creator I m the responsible.
This is great premise to attract luck and better conditions.

By the way, This is post #200

Good application of Steve’s philosophy, Louis.
