I was looking for a way to improve my feeling of self-appreciation and I came across a book, I bought a few years ago called
Using your brain for a change ,
Richard Bandler (1985) ; if you want to feel good you can recall a memory of a time when you felt that way, the book said that if you increase the brightness of the image you are perceiving your feelings will be also amplified, I tested it, I could notice some tiny very tiny improvement, I think it requires some practise at least for me, I also made the image bigger and played with the sound. That book by Bandler is about
NLP and in NLP , they call these things you can change to improve or diminish the impact of feelings and memories ,
submodalities. They are many types of submodalities visual (brightness, size, distance), auditory (sound, voice), kinesthesic (texture, temperature, …), olfactory ( smell).
In her book Excuse Me, Your Life is Waiting , Lynn Grabhorn explains how she forced herself to improve her feelings each days during a period of 30 days, this exercise wasn’t easy but it paid off big dividend. Her new found happiness helped her in all areas of her life.
There is that feeling of appreciation that I try to improve each day which is really self-love and there is nothing better than loving yourself because you know as a wise man once said ‘To fall in love with a person, another human being, has got to be the direct result of first falling in love with you’.
I try to improve the feeling each day because If you don’t go forward then you stagnate or you go backward. This is the last thing I want. I’m extremely curious to see where I will end up if I keep improving the feeling of appreciation during the next 6 months.
