Fasting for emotional freedom
ByDuring those 24 hours I only drank fresh fruit juices, in the beginning it was not easy with the feeling of hunger but it eventually diminished to an acceptable level. The afternoon and the night were easier to handle.
During my fasting period I was clearly able to see that a lot of foods I take is to suppress emotions rather than feeling them. In our life we accumulate some emotional wounds I will refer to them as the pain body. Most of us ignore the pain body when it wants to express itself and eating food that take long hours to digest is a way to ignore the signal from the pain body.
Elijah the biblical figure did a fast to overcome bad habits and negativity. He knew about his pain body and now I know about mine too. A lot of us eat to overcompensate emotional deprivation this is eating from the emotional level opposed to eating from a mental level of consciousness.
Friday, after my fast I was aware about what to eat , when to eat, my need for eating diminished, I took a small breakfast and a vegetarian meal at night during the day I drank juices for the most part.
According to Dr. Cousens :
. . . fasting in a larger context, means to abstain from that which is toxic to mind, body, and soul. A way to understand this is that fasting is the elimination of physical, emotional, and mental toxins from our organism, rather than simply cutting down on or stopping food intake. Fasting for spiritual purposes usually involves some degree of removal of oneself from worldly responsibilities. It can mean complete silence and social isolation during the fast which can be a great revival to those of us who have been putting our energy outward.
I’m sold to fasting I will try once a week , every Thursday. Fasting is one of the technique to emotional freedom other techniques include working on the pain body or emotional wounds.
To heal a wound is to face a fear , put down a shield, and allow the experience originally denied to pass through your being. That the process to release the wound.
